1.教學目標
本課程在於了解基本點對點通訊連結設計與分析,重點放在類比條調變/解調變 技術、性能分析、與在可加性高斯通道下之二進數據傳輸。修過本課程的學生應有能力以次系統層級之觀點,去分析並設計振幅、角度、與脈波調變系統,並且應用基本的機率與隨機程序觀念來分析各系統之訊雜比。 
The objective of this course is to understand the fundamentals of point-to-point communication link design and analysis, with a focus on the concepts of analog modulation/demodulation techniques, performance analysis, and basics of binary data transmission over additive white Gaussian channel. Upon completion of this course students should be able to analyze and design amplitude, angle and pulse modulation systems at the sub-system level, and to apply basic methods of probability and random processes to signal-to-noise ratios.

我們將複習並強化一些關於訊號與系統之描述與分析的重要觀念。然後我們介紹一些常用的類比調變方法,並討論如何接收這些信號。由於雜訊干擾是通訊過程中無法避免的現象,我們必須了解其特性與描述方法。這在隨機過程主題之下討論之。然後我們討論雜訊對類比信號傳輸品質的影響。若時間足夠,我們介紹一些數位信號編碼的理論與實際方法。 
We review and enhance our understanding of some important concepts regarding the description and analysis of signals and systems. We then introduce some commonly used analog modulation methods and discuss how to receive the signals. Since noise always interferes with the communication process, we have to understand how to characterize it. This is studied under the heading of random processes. We then study the effect of noise on the performance of analog signal transmission. If time is enough, we introduce some theory and practical techniques for digital signal coding.
